LES MIS CHAPTER 9

The relationship between M. Myriel seem so strong that as if nothing could separate them. They both have so much respect towards each other.

LES MIS CHAPTER 8

It's crazy how a drunk person can tell the Bishop mean things and the Bishop didn't even get mad about it. The Bishop agrees with him but then thinks about it from his own viewpoint.

MSS PART 2

The difference between a sign and symbol is that a symbol has a referent and the perception and thought of the interpreter is you. A sigh is when you know what's going to happen. For example, if you put a leash on a dog it knows it's going for a walk. A word is a sign because when you go out there are signs and they have words on them which obviously mean something. One natural sign i've seen in the world is the sun. One symbol I've seen in the world is the peace sign. It stands for peace. I know what it meant because many people use it for peace.

SEEDS OF A REVOLUTION

What was it that led the people of France revolt against their king? The answer to this question is very simple. The French economy struggled under the king due to large debt and massive expenses. The drought and poor grain harvests led to rising bread prices, then the people began to revolt against the king.

LES MIS CH 1

In this chapter it starts of by introducing us to Monseigneur Charles-Francois-Bienvenu Myriel, Bishop of Digne. He was a very humble man and got marry at a young age, had a family. After the revolution he his family was forced to leave and they made them flee their home. His wife unfortunately died and left him alone. He then became and priest. He was sent to jail for nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread.

LES MIS CH 4

In chapter 4 it talks about the death of a man who is being charged for being a murder. It's the Bishop's chance to see both side of sides of the story and find compassion. The bishop seems to be against the death penalty and I think the author reflects to the opinion of the death penalty. I agree with the Bishop but why does it have to be controversial.
