LES MIS & THE FRENCH REVOLUTION

The connections between Les Mis and the French Revolution is that it happened right after the French Revolution had happened and there were some things left from it. For example in the story the Bishop talks about visiting a member from the convention but his surroundings are kind of worried because the French Revolution was too violent. There were many people that we're in need and suffering. This can relate to the French Revolution because there might of been many complicated situations in the French Revolution.

LES MIS PART 1 SUMMARY

The first book of Les Misérables is mostly about Monseigneur Bienvenu who is known to be the Bishop of Digne. This first book shows so many life-defining moments in Bishop Myriel's time spent with man convinced to death, a man who was a former member of the Convention, and what he's done for his people.      One of the most meaningful moments in the Bishop's job was when he volunteers to spend time with a man convinced to death. No one besides the Bishop volunteered to spend his time with this man who was in his last moments of his life, The Bishop spent his whole day with this man and he even prayed for him and to god. The next day the man was executed and the Bishop of Digne went to contemplate the idea of execution. The second moment that stood out in the book is when the Bishop pays another visit to a man who was dying. This man has not been convicted of anything but to the Bishop and other's this man was bad. Although this does not stop the ...

FOR THE WIN

Something I've done really well in this course that makes me happy was posting my journals because everyone can see what I am thinking and maybe have a connection with me. I have read some of my classmates and I can connect to their thoughts which really helps me because I know I'm not the only one having those thoughts.

LES MIS CH 14

In this chapter what I have understood was that the Bishop was not a powerful man, he stayed in the shade instead of the spotlight. Although he prayed and loved. He was a very humble man, but was full of love and very kind.

LES MIS CHAPTER 5

In this chapter we know that after the Bishop finishes his job he will roam around and when someone needs his help they will just call him out and he will go. He will visit the poor as long as he has money and visit the rich when he needs money. In order to calm the Bishop down he meditates and writes about what he witness.

LES MIS CH 13

In this chapter it talks about how the Bishop has an excess with love because of this it's known as weak and soft by serious people. Although many people saw society as "ugly" the Bishop had sympathy for those people. His goodness was given to him since he was born. There may be rumors about him being violent but he turns out to be a man with respect.

LES MIS CH 12

In this chapter it talks about how young people in the church "clim up the ladder." Although the Bishop was very kind they weren't able to stay with him. Merit and success aren't the same thing they both have different meanings.

LES MIS CH 11

In this chapter it starts off by the Bishop criticizing other Bishops that are living in luxury. He doesn't help in any way because he's just making fun of the poor. Then after we find out that the Bishop has 2 brothers and is disapproving of one. The Bishop doesn’t like to be involved in politics but wanted to fight for freedom. Later in the story we find out that there is an old commander who gets kicked out in the streets with his family but the Bishop helps them.

LES MIS CH 10

In this chapter the Bishop visits a dying man who was in the French Revolution. No one liked the man but when he was dying he said he didn't hate anyone. The Bishop's view ended up changing on the man who was dying he then began respecting the man. I believe the Bishop finally saw the other side of the story and the intentions behind the revolution.
