FINAL REFLECTION FOR WORLD LITERATURE 2020-2021

This semester was unlike any other semester because everything was online and we didn't get the chance to see each other physically. Something different we did since the beginning of this year is the fact we had to do our work on our own and just write out our thoughts on our blogs. I personally didn't know that we can have our own blogs which kind of surprised me. It's just something different I haven't done with any of my teachers and doing these blogs is something new to me. I can express all my thoughts through the blog. Also, I can relate to some of my classmates and know I'm not the only one feeling the same way. I didn't really like having class virtually for me I can't focus or pay attention because I get distracted by the most easiest things. I tried learning all that I can but it's different when we are physically together we can understand each other better. In school teachers teach you well and you can understand each course better. Something meaningful that we did together in this semester was how you asked us what we didn't like or what we needed to be able to focus more. For example we decided to do meditations when our class period started. The reason was because we come from other different periods and we can't just change from one subject to another. I really enjoyed this semester!

I'm proud of all the work I've done this semester and how much I've accomplished because I know this semester wasn't easy. I know I wasn't so on top of publishing all my assignments on time but I still did my best to get most of the assignments published. Out of all the work we did I am most proud of all the journals and first impressions. The reason I am proud of my journals and first impressions is because I was able to express my thoughts and also connect with the story we read. I've learned that a lot of unexpected things can happen that has an effect on everyone's life. For example who would of thought this pandemic would of happen and actually stop us from even seeing each other physically. I didn't just learn new things in school but I learned about the outside world too. One of the books we're reading as a whole class that can connect to this pandemic is Les Miserables. It can connect to the pandemic because in the book there was a pandemic too that killed many people. I really hope this pandemic can be over and we can return to our normal lives. I really miss school and my friends.

Something I could of done differently in this course was to actually be on time publishing my posts on my blog. I would forget about english at times because it wasn't on canvas and all my classes were. I always tried checking on english at least three times a week. In this course I learned that you have to treat others fairly even if you don't trust them. For example in Les Mis the Bishop was harsh at times but still gave everyone a chance. This can help me in the future because I don't know everyone in the world and obviously there will be someone I meet who I have to get to know and understand. There are many people in the world who have been through tough times and need some support. I always try to make everyone feel comfortable because if I don't they might feel lonely and sad. I really learned a lot from Les Mis I am enjoying the message the book is giving me. Some texts I've read this semester were Les Miserables, The right to your opinion, and The laughing heart. Some techniques that made these texts effective were allusion, connotation, characterization, mood etc. Im glad I finished this semester strong and hope to learn many more new things the upcoming semester.
